In the latter half of 2001, the group launched www.retailspacescleveland.com, a database of available development opportunities in Cleveland’s neighborhood retail districts. The
committee was instrumental in the adoption of the Pedestrian Retail Overlay
District ordinance, which protects the qualities of neighborhood retail
districts that encourage pedestrian activity. For more information about
the ordinance and a copy of the adopted legislation, click

Goals and issues are addressed simultaneously in five key areas:
Exciting News Flash! “Got It! In the Neighborhood“ was featured in the January/Februay issue of the National Main Street Center's journal, Main Street News. Neighborhood Safety Committee The CNDC Neighborhood Safety Committee, a coalition of Re$tore Cleveland groups, members of the Retail Commercial Support Initiative, and community organizers is launching Phase II of their safety strategy, the development of CDC Safety Action Plans for each neighborhood. Plans will be created by area stakeholders, CDC staff, board members and local police. The creation of “crime” maps, comprehensive data collection, objective baseline measurements and best practices database assembled during Phase I of the Neighborhood Safety Initiative provide a solid base for the development of CDC Safety Action Plans for Phase II. Merchant Safety Kits were also created and distributed during Phase I. The technical assistance contract was awarded to Charles McNeeley, currently Chief of Police for Olmsted Falls. Chief McNeeley has over 32 years experience serving in the City of Cleveland Police Department. He was the Commander of the First District when he retired in 2002. Click here for press release.
